Version 6 is the current major version of Font Awesome. Any updates to icons and software will be made as part of this version through minor and patch
releases. Looking for another version,
check out our versions archive
to access any and all of the Awesome.
LTS is short for "Long Term Support", a software lifecycle term that denotes a release as stable and officially maintained for a long period of time.
While regular updates will be part of releases we ship to the current version of Font Awesome, LTS versions will be focused on dependability and
stability and not regularly updated.
We split up Font Awesome releases into regular updates and bug-fix updates. You'll always be entitled to a bug-fix update for your last version with a
Pro or Pro Max Plan, even after your subscription has expired.
Font Awesome Free and Font Awesome Pro are available to you in two formats:
as an icon font, also called a Web Font
as SVGs
Downloads of either format are available for both Font Awesome Free and Font Awesome Pro (if you have a perpetual license). To make them easier to use
on the web, we have created frameworks for each. And we have lots of
documentation on how to use them
on the web and on the desktop.
We're still figuring out how best to make the Pro version of Font Awesome available for open source projects and popular themes/plugins like yours.
Pro is commercial software, so there are some restrictions. Biggest one is that you cannot distribute Pro to folks not specifically covered by the
license (e.g. you can't provide the files in your open source public repo).
For themes and open source projects, right now it's best to just use Font Awesome Free. We are working a better solution, so feel free to
get in touch
if you have thoughts.
Font Awesome Free is available by default in Figma. If you'd like to use Font Awesome Pro in Figma, we recommend our ligature-based font files. Here's
how to get started
along with
how to install them locally. install the Pro font files locally. Also, you'll need to make sure "Local
Fonts" are enables in Figma's settings.
If you're a freelancer or agency passing work along directly to clients or printers and they aren't modifying any content at all, then you're probably
good to go.
If they edit any content on the website, print design, mobile app, etc. then they would be considered a creator and would need to be covered by a
Pro license
.
Our Pro-only icons cannot be directly included in open source projects. The
Font Awesome Pro license
has the most detailed and up-to-date information on acceptable Font Awesome Pro use.
Sharing Pro Assets
Sharing Font Awesome Pro assets (both icons and software) directly with anyone who is not covered specifically by your Font Awesome Pro license is in
direct violation of the
Font Awesome Pro license. Doing so may result in account suspension, loss of access to Font
Awesome Pro assets, and/or legal action.
Using Pro Services
Using Font Awesome Pro services in open source projects is allowed. However any usage of these services will remain tied to your Font Awesome
purchased plan subscription.
Kits
Any websites, apps, or projects that reference your Pro kits will count towards your monthly pageviews and could lead to overages in use and extra
charges.
Pro npm Packages
We recommend including Font Awesome Pro packages in your open source projects as a dependency
and requiring users of your project to get their own Font Awesome Pro npm token (available with an active Pro level plan).
If folks would prefer not to get their own token, they should swap the Pro package out for the Font Awesome Free package.
The first question to ask is are those others you want to work with
creators
? Creators are folks who make or edit content with Font Awesome Pro icons. If they're creators, you'll need to assign them a seat on your Font Awesome
of your license seats.
Creators can also embed Pro in projects, then pass along to non-creators in a few limited cases (deploying software with Pro embedded, printing a file
with Pro icons, etc.) If those non-Creators ever need to modify or create any new content in those projects, they would need to be assigned one of
your license seats.
For themes and open source projects, right now it's best to just use Font Awesome Free. We are working on a better solution, so feel free to
get in touch
if you have thoughts.
Pro subscribers can slim down Font Awesome to just the icons they need by creating a subset. The best way to create a subset is to
add a Kit and set it to
Custom Subsetting in the Settings.
We also still have the sunsetted Pro Subsetter desktop app available for creating subsets for late Version 5 and early Version 6 releases. You can
download it from the Downloads page.
Icon Upload is available from within a Kit. You can upload your own SVG icons to be transformed into icons.
Kits are the easiest and most performant way to use Font Awesome on the web. And now with Kit Icon Upload, they're also the most extendable. Just
upload your icon into a kit of your choosing, and use it right away just like you use Font Awesome icons.
While uploaded icons are web-centric now, we're planning to make kits a cornerstone for a lot more in the future
.
When you subscribe to a Font Awesome Pro or Pro Max Plan, you'll receive a perpetual Font Awesome Pro license. That license grants you the ability to
use Font Awesome Pro's icons and software in a ton of ways.
Use Font Awesome's Pro's icons and software in your web-based projects
Download and use Font Awesome Pro's icons in your desktop design work
Use Font Awesome Pro in print and graphic design work
Use Font Awesome Pro in your presentations
Restrictions
There are some things to be mindful of, however. Font Awesome Pro is commercial software - so you cannot distribute Pro to folks not specifically
covered by your Font Awesome Pro license.
More specifics about what is allowed are in the
full Pro license
.
Version 6 is the latest and greatest major version of Font Awesome. It includes everything in the Font Awesome 5 you know and love along with plenty
of improvements and new additions. While we'll be releasing content and features over time as we always have, we've released the following so far:
Icon updates, fixes, and additions
An all new Thin style of all icons
The Sharp Family of icons - The Sharp Solid, Regular,Light, and Thin styles are out now, with more coming soon!
Django + WordPress plugins
CSS Custom Properties in our support styling toolkit
An updated and expanded styling toolkit that includes more animations and customizations
Upload your own icons into a Kit
Use the Kit Custom Subset feature or the Desktop Subsetter app for easily bundling just the icons you need on a project
Going forward, we're excited to ship some of the following shortly:
We still support a number of older Pro licenses from our Kickstarter and Pre-release of Version 5 days. But those have different terms than the one
you will need to use Font Awesome 6. You can continue to use Font Awesome 5 Pro under your existing license. To start using Font Awesome 6 Pro, you'll
need to
purchase a Font Awesome subscription.
We've created upgrading guides for the
web
and
desktop
to help you get Version 6 up and running in as little time and pain as possible.
When upgrading on the web, we've outlined steps for each of the major ways you can integrate Font Awesome into your project. From SCSS/Less to
JavaScript components to CSS Pseudo-elements, we've got you covered. And if your project is still using Font Awesome 4, we've got a guide for
easy upgrading from v4 to v6!
In developing Version 6, we've been laser-sword-focused on making sure things are backwards compatible. But the answer to this really depends on how
you've been using Font Awesome in your existing projects - if you're using our frameworks, components, or Kits, chances are we have you covered.
Just as Version 5 had more icons and more ways to use them in projects, Version 6 continues that mantra. We want Font Awesome to have the icons and
styles to fit into your project.
This means we're making more styles to match your look and feel, meeting you in your project's stack as much as possible, and most importantly we'll
try to have the icons you need. When we don't, Font Awesome 6 has a way for you to add those yourself. You can
upload your own logo and icons
or even commission us to design
1 icon,
6 icons, or
24 icons!
It's important to note that Version 6 is a major release and might have breaking changes (though we are doing our absolute best to avoid them in this
version). And we've made upgrading from versions 4 and 5 easier than ever, complete with guides when possible. And our Pro-level plans come with
Actual Human Support if you need help getting unstuck.
First of all, thanks much for being one of the original supporters of version 5. You enabled a whole new generation of Font Awesome that's bigger and
better.
You have a perpetual license to Version 5. This means you can keep using Font Awesome 5's Pro assets as long as you like on as many web, print, and
mobile projects you like. And you'll get updates to Version 5 for life! You've also got access to all of the
original Kickstarter rewards. As part of your rewards, you also received
over 2 years of access to Pro-level services like our CDN, Kits, and npm packages.
If you have purchased a Font Awesome Pro plan, and have an active subscription, you will always get access to the latest version of Font Awesome
available. With that in mind, if your subscription is active during Version 6's software lifecycle, you'll get it. Likewise, if your subscription is
active when we release new services and features under Version 6, you'll also get those in the future.
These License are no longer available! While we honor the following details, we no longer offer these types of licenses for sale.

Yes, Font Awesome 5 is officially supported until we announce otherwise. However, all new icons, features, and services will be under the umbrella of
Version 6. We'll continue to provide fixes for bugs and issues in Version 5.
Existing services like Kits, Pro CDN, and packages, that provide access to Version 5 will also continue to be available.
Not a single thing at all. You've got the same license you had when you backed or pre-ordered. Kickstarter/Pre-order folks are allowed to keep their
license exactly as it was promised. If you're a Kickstarter backer, you're also getting the following:
All Kickstarter Rewards
You'll have these to keep forever:

This includes Pro CDN, Kits, and our private NPM repository for Pro.
Updates for the Lifecycle of Font Awesome 5
You're entitled to free updates to all of the icons and tech that came with your Font Awesome 5's Kickstarter rewards. If there are new or updated
icons added to our Font Awesome 5 solid, regular, light, or duotone styles - you'll get them.

better.

original Kickstarter rewards. As part of your rewards, you also received
over 2 years of access to Pro-level services like our CDN, kits, and npm packages.
When you purchase a plan from Font Awesome, you'll be able to use both our Kits and our Pro CDN as part of your year of services, support, and
updates. After that year is over, you'll need to renew your plan's subscription to keep using them (and to get all of the fresh icons and updates).
Note that some services, like our Kits, have pageview limits per month. If you exceed those limits, you may incur additional charges.
While we expect to have minimal issues, there is no guarantee of 100% uptime for our Kits as well as Free and Pro CDNs. We may need to perform
maintenance to these that on rare occasions or encounter unforeseen issues that would cause service interruptions. You can always check the
status of all of our services.
Pageviews are how we track usage of our Kits service, which
hosts and serves icons for you. By default, there are no restrictions on which domains can use your Kit. We do, however, give you the option to (and
recommend that you) "whitelist" domains in order to restrict which sites can use your Kit.
Through a Kit's settings, you can limit which domains
are allowed to use that Kit. Limiting domains lets you control where and how your Font Awesome Kits are being used which helps avoid unexpected usage.

If you've set a specific Pageviews billing limit, you'll be billed for any additional overages until that set limit is reached. At that point, the
Kits service will be deactivated for the remainder of the current month.
If you reach your plan's monthly Package Bandwidth limit and do not have Metered Billing enabled, the Kits service will be deactivated for the
remainder of the month, which may result in icon interruptions for your projects.
Packages allow projects to use Font Awesome in one line of code, without the hassle of managing assets, data, and files. This includes easy updating
to newer releases of Font Awesome too. Packages can be installed and managed using popular software like npm, yarn,
Python, and Ruby.
We have a number of
ways to use our packages
and two sets of packages you can download: Free (and open source) packages that you can use in your open source projects, and also a Pro (commercial)
packages for Pro subscribers that gives you access to use our Pro icons in your private projects. Be sure to check your license and adhere to the
terms of use when including packages in your projects.
Each time one of your projects loads Font Awesome Pro assets as a package via a Package Manager (like npm) or Plugin, the size of the data transferred
is recorded as Package Bandwidth - which is counted monthly and reset each month.
For Pro and Pro Max subscribers, Font Awesome maintains and provides access to our Pro packages - including all the storage and data needed to build
and serve Pro assets in a project. Fun fact: We serve over 12TB of data per month - that's a lot of icons! And because our Pro icons are commercial
software, we can't host them on
npmjs.com , but you do have the option to download and host our npm packages yourself.
If you've set a specific Package Bandwidth billing limit, you'll be billed for any additional overages until that set limit is reached. At that point,
the service will be deactivated for the remainder of the current month.
If you reach your plan's monthly Package Bandwidth limit and do not have Metered Billing enabled, the service will be deactivated for the remainder of
the month, which may result in icon interruptions for your projects.
We've designed our Kits feature to be a balanced solution between easy-to-use and performant. To that end we've made some trade-offs.
Our Kit URLs (e.g.
https://kit.fontawesome.com/abcdefg.js
) are specifically configured to have a short life (max age). They'll hang around in your browser's cache for a minute before a new version is fetched
from the server. Most of the time the server responds with an empty "304 Not Modified" response. So it's still pretty effecient even though it needs
to talk with the server. This makes sure that if you change your Kit's settings it will show up reasonably soon in the browser.
The other thing we've done is allowed you to choose the "latest" version of Font Awesome for your Kit. When we add icons and release new versions of
Font Awesome your site will automatically get the new version. To make this work the browser will cache files for up to one minute before checking
with the server to see if a newer version exists.
One optimization that you can make is to explicitly select a version instead of "latest". If you select, for example, "5.8.2" and then save your Kit
we can use a different caching strategy. Because the version doesn't change the browser will cache files for the maximum that most browsers recognize:
365 days. This means that for up to a year your browser never needs to make a request for anything but the original Kit URL (which is super tiny to
begin with).
Lastly we want to talk about how Kits load multiple files. You may have noticed that a lot of requests for WOFF2 or SVG files can be seen in the
Network tab of the browsers developer tools. In the old days, this would be very inneficient as each request would be a separate network connection.
However, Kits use newer HTTP/2 features where multiple files can not only use the same network connection but can be processed in parallel. We've
optimized our files in such a way that you should see excellent performance from this and in a lot of cases it's faster than traditional file bundling
over HTTP/1.
We also now have the option to load Kits using only CSS. (You'll need to set your Kit to use version 6 and Web Fonts.) Once the files are loaded and
cached, they will be very fast and performant in your sites and apps.
If you have deeper questions about caching, get in touch. We're happy to talk shop and solutions.
According to our
Pro license, you may not redistribute Pro assets and source code to non-license holders. While
any of your users can view the source of your project using Font Awesome Pro, they are not allowed to use your access to Pro CDN.
In order to deploy a project from Netlify using FontAwesome Pro NPM package, you will need to add an environment variable. The variable should be
named:
FONTAWESOME_NPM_AUTH_TOKEN
and its value should be set to your Font Awesome Pro NPM Package Token. If you help adding environment variables to Netlify please see
Netlify's documentation on declaring variables.
Yes! You can find our official
Font Awesome Icons Figma plugin
in the Figma Community or by searching for "Font Awesome Icons (Official)" in your Figma app's Plugin menu.
We also have the following ways to use Font Awesome with Figma:
Alternative 1: Font Awesome Figma component
Use this ligature-based
icon component. You'll need to install the OTF font
files for Font Awesome Pro first, but then you can just edit the component and type in a new icon name to change it.
Alternative 1: Download and Use SVGs
If you'd prefer to use vector-based icons, here's my suggestion.
Download the "For Desktop Use" files from Font Awesome.
With a new Figma window open, select your desired SVGs (in a chosen style) in the downloaded folder and drag/drop them onto the Figma window.
This will import all of the svgs as separate frames into Figma.
"Select all" and use this plugin to scale all of the icons down to a 16px height:
Scale Plugin
With everything still selected, use this plugin to resize all of the frames to a consistent size (I would suggest either 20 x 20 pixels or 24 x 24
pixels):
Frame Resizer Plugin
Now click the little arrow next to the create component icon (the little diamond grid) in the top bar of the Figma window. This will give you a
dropdown with the option to "create multiple components".
We offer official support for Font Awesome plans with an active subscription. If you're working with Font Awesome Free or have an expired
subscription, your best bet is to check out our
online documentation, check out all of the Font Awesome threads on (
Stack Overflow
), or
contact our community on GitHub
through a new issue to see if anyone else can help or has been in your shoes before.
If you use a service and reach your purchased Plan's monthly limit, Metered Billing allows you to avoid that service being deactivated as well as icon
interruptions in your projects. Instead,
when Metered Billing is
fully released, you'll be billed for any additional overages using a flat rate for the remainder of the month.
Metered Billing only takes effect when you exceed your purchased Plan's monthly limits and can be
enabled or disabled per service at any time.
If you have Metered Billing enabled, there are no charges or additional billing unless you exceed your purchased Plan's monthly limit.
When Metered Billing is
fully released, if you do reach your purchased Plan's monthly limit for Metered Billing-enabled service you'll be billed for any
additional overages using a flat rate for the remainder of the month. You can set a maximum billing limit or
disable Metered Billing at any point during the month.
Yes! If you have purchased a plan from Font Awesome and have an active subscription, you can enable or disable Metered Billing for a specific Font
Awesome service at any point in time.
While you can enable and disable Metered Billing for a service at
any time, you'll be billed for any usage overages that were recorded while Metered Billing was enabled.
Yes! You can set a billing limit for each Metered Billing-enabled service. If you exceed your plan's monthly limit for that service, you'll be charged
for any overages up to, but not exceeding, that limit.
Any recorded Metered Billing overages for the current month will be billed to you at the beginning of the next month in a separate invoice. That
invoice will contain usage and costs broken down by individual service.
If you reach your plan's monthly limit for a service and do not have Metered Billing enabled, the service will be deactivated for the remainder of the
month, which may result in icon interruptions for your projects.
When Metered Billing is
fully released, if you have Metered Billing enabled and reach your plan's monthly limit for a service, that service will remain active
and you'll be billed for any additional overages using a flat ratefor the remainder
of the month.
If you've set a specific billing limit for a service, you'll be billed for any additional overages until that set limit is reached. At that point the
service will be deactivated for the remainder of the current month.
If you do not pay for Metered Billing overages, the service(s) associated with those overages will be deactivated until those outstanding overages are
resolved. This deactivation may result in icon interruptions for your projects.
You don't. A version of Font Awesome has been and always will be free. As a matter of fact,
the current version of Font Awesome Free
now has twice as many icons as Font Awesome 4, which was completely free, ever did.
But if you want to take your Font Awesome up a notch, you can subscribe to a Font Awesome Pro plan. This gives you more icons, services, and even
actual human technical support.
You betcha! Font Awesome Free, the free version of Font Awesome, is perfect for open source project use. The thousands of solid and brand icons
included in Font Awesome Free can be used and distributed in your projects.
Heads up
:
Font Awesome Free's license
requires that you maintain attribution when using Font Awesome assets.
Font Awesome began as a free resource and it's important to us that there will always be a free version of it that is more-than-usable by anyone who
needs icons. But we built a team to make sure we continue to add icons, features, and make Font Awesome, well, awesome. That team is full of great
people who help make our icons and products - but they're also folks with bills, kids, and dreams of their own that require a salary.
Paid options like
Font Awesome Pro
help sustain those people and the company. Also, since we've introduced Font Awesome Pro, we've had the means to more than double the size of Font
Awesome Free!
With that all in mind, when planning out a category or release, we consider what icons can be added to Free to form a usable subset. If an icon
doesn't make that cut, it's because it covers a deeper or more nuanced subject (e.g.
toilet-paper-alt
) or it isn't essential to that focused subset of a category we included in Free (e.g. the range of
toilet-paper-alt
to
toilet-paper-alt
). If you find yourself really needing one of those icons, we hope you'd consider supporting the team and project.
Font Awesome has been and will always continue to be an open source project. The current version of Font Awesome has a free version.
Font Awesome Free includes a core set of professionally designed icons plus all of the ways and frameworks to use them easily.
In addition to that, we've offer a Free plan you can sign up for which gives you access to free services like our Font Awesome CDN and Font Awesome
Kits, the easiest and quickest way to use icons on the web.
Purchasing a subscription to Font Awesome gives you immediate access to the latest version of Font Awesome, which includes:
Tons of icons in a number of styles
- Solid, Regular, Thin, Light, Duotone - and now the new Sharp family, with Sharp Solid, Regular, Light, and Thin out now. And don't forget Brands!
A perpetual license to Font Awesome Pro for Pro or Pro Max subscriptions
- You can continue to use Font Awesome Pro after your subscription has ended on as many web, print, and mobile projects you like.
Subscription to a year of services and features
- This includes Kits with Icon Upload, Pro CDN, our private NPM repository for Pro, and any other services we develop.
Subscription to a year of updates to Font Awesome Pro icons and styles
- These updates will include major version releases that include new icons and styles and new features as they are released.
More and updated packages and plugins
for Vue, React, Angular, Enber, Rails, Django, WordPress, Sass, Less, and more.
We support a number of payment methods including credit card, bank debit, and bank redirect, as well as Apple Pay, Google Pay, AliPay, WeChat, and
more, via Stripe, an industry leader in online payments. We take your security seriously and don't store any payment information on our servers. If
you have any questions or concerns about online payments, get in touch!
Absolutely! When you purchase a Font Awesome subscription you will receive a receipt via email and you can also access invoices from the
Billing section of your Account. If you paid via Stripe, click the link to "Manage your
subscription in Stripe" and you will see the invoices listed at the bottom of the page.
When your purchased Plan's subscription renews and you are charged, we'll email you a new receipt and add a new invoice to your account.
If you need to add extra information to your invoice (business address, VAT number, etc) and you paid via Paypal, go to the
Billing section of your Account
and select the invoice you want to add information to. Once you're viewing the invoice, click the "Add additional information to this receipt" link.
If you need to add extra information to your invoice (business address, etc) and paid via Stripe, go to the
Billing section of your Account
and click the link to "Manage your subscription in Stripe". You can update your billing and shipping address from there and it will be updated on your
invoices. Unfortunately, VAT or Tax ID numbers can only be added at checkout. If you forgot to enter it on checkout and need it added,
contact us.
If you would like to cancel your subcription, log into your account and visit the
Billing section of your Account. You'll see a link to Manage your subscription in Stripe.
From the Stripe portal, you can select Cancel plan.
If you cancel your subscription renewal, you will still have access to use Font Awesome Pro through the rest of your current paid subscription period.
And you're welcome to renew again at any time to get all the latest goodies!
If you're using Stripe to pay for your subscription, you can manage many of your subscription options - including your plan, seats, and payment - in
Stripe by clicking the "Manage your subscription in Stripe" link in
your Account. Once you are in the Stripe portal, you'll see options to cancel, renew, or
change your plan, add seats, update or change your payment type, update your billing address, and view or print receipts and invoices.
If you would like to set your subcription to auto-renew so your Font Awesome icons keep flowing, log into your account and visit the
Billing section of your Account. You'll see a link to renew in Stripe. From the Stripe
portal, you can select Renew plan.
If you canceled your subscription and your end date has passed, then your subscription has ended. You will no longer have access to any new Pro icons
and software updates that get released in new versions of Font Awesome and services like Kits, Pro CDN, the private NPM repo, and our actual human
technical support are shut off.
However, if you have a Font Awesome Pro or Pro Max perpetual license, you can use the icons for the latest version available while your subscription
was active. We'll keep a zip file of all the icons for you - just sign in to your account to download. And you're welcome back anytime - we'll keep
the fa-engine running!
Font Awesome Pro is is a digital product, so its tough to return the software and assets for your money back once you've downloaded them. We have a
Limited Refund Policy
that talks about this and does provide an option if you haven't downloaded Pro yet. We're hoping you try our Free version out first to make sure Font
Awesome is right for you. That being said, we know crazy situations come up - if you've purchased a Font Awesome Subscription and have issues,
get in touch
.
Simplicity. We originally thought we'd go the model of selling lots of tiny things (like category packs, access to Pro Kits, additional FA styles),
but we really don't want to do that. We're designers and developers and don't want to spend a ton of time on pricing models, upsells, and the rest. We
want to keep it simple. You buy a Pro-level plan, you get everything we're making for it.
We also think it makes sense to keep the license perpetual. You paid for it, so we want you to be able to use it in all of your projects. But for
things that cost us money to develop and maintain, like updates to the software, new features (which might or might not have been a part of the
Kickstarter rewards), and services like Pro CDN and the private NPM repo, we think it makes sense to charge for those on a continuing basis since our
costs for them continue as well.
If in that year of updates and services you've not seen useful updates, new features, and critical services you need, then you can cancel the renewal.
You'll still get your updates and services for that year and the perpetual license to keep using it. No problem at all.
If you have a Pro-level plan, you have an unlimited use license. Use it in your web apps, iOS and Android apps, in your presentations, in print, and
just about anywhere as long as you're not distributing.
Your plan includes access to services and features. Some of those, like our Pro CDN and Kits, include limits on pageviews per month. You may receive
charges and communication if you exceed your plan's alloted pageviews.
We have no reseller discounts/rates nor do we provide quotes at this time. We also do not accept purchase orders at the moment, but do accept payments
by credit card, bank debit, bank redirects, and mobile payments via Stripe.
Sorry, at this time, our systems aren't set up sell to resellers, only directly to users. You and your clients would
purchase a plan
(with the appropriate amount of seats for their needs).
There is zero lead time - upon successful purchase, we set up an account from the email used when checking out (which can be changed later) and
provide access to download the digital assets from that account.
We do not accept purchase orders at the moment, but do accept payments through credit/debit cards.
Your clients will receive a lifetime license to Font Awesome Pro as well as a free year's subscription to updates, services, and support.
If you're passing work along directly to clients or printers and they aren't modifying any content at all, then you're probably good to go. If they
edit any content on the website, print design, mobile app, etc. then they would be considered a creator and would need to be covered by a
Pro license
.
Sorry, we do not have any specific discounts for non-profit organizations. We priced Font Awesome to be affordable by all. We're hoping we've included
enough icons, frameworks, and services that the cost is well worth it.
You don't. A version of Font Awesome has been and always will be free. As a matter of fact,
the current version of Font Awesome Free
now has twice as many icons as Font Awesome 4, which was completely free, ever did.
But if you want to take your Font Awesome up a notch, you can purchase a Font Awesome plan. This gives you more icons, services, and even actual human
technical support.
We include 5 seats in every Pro plan for free. If you need more, you can add extra ones for $20 per seat per year. Our Pro Max plan includes 50 seats
and you can add more for $10 per seat per year.

Subscribing to a Pro-level Plan that includes a Font Awesome Pro license gets you the following…
Perpetual Use of Font Awesome Pro and Pro Max
You can download and use the versions of Font Awesome Pro released during your subscription for as long as you like on as many web, print, and mobile
projects you would like.
A year's subscription to all of services and features included in your
plan.
The latest versions and updates to all our icons, styles, services, and tools.
Yes! There are no recurring fees or subscriptions involved in using your Pro license. You will always have access to the version of Font Awesome Pro
you purchased and can use that in however many projects you'd like. Your pro-level plan, which came with your Pro license, also includes with a year
of updates and upgrades. If we release something new during that period, you'll get it. After that period is complete, you can continue to subscribe
to new updates or use the latest version of Font Awesome Pro available to you.
We strongly discourage you from doing the following with a Font Awesome Pro or Pro Max license:
Sharing your license number/info with anyone who is not covered specifically by your license's details or is not assigned to a seat on your license
Sharing your account information/access with anyone who is not covered specifically by your license's details or is not assigned to a seat on your
license
Sharing Font Awesome Pro icon or framework assets directly with anyone who is not covered specifically by your license's details or is not assigned
to a seat on your license
Sharing Font Awesome Pro icon or framework assets publicly (e.g. in codebases on GitHub)
Providing access to create content using Font Awesome Pro icons (e.g. in a Figma community plugin or file)
Selling, re-distributing or re-packaging Font Awesome Pro icon or framework assets
Being rude, offensive, or disruptive to the Font Awesome community
Read the full license for details. Violating the license may result in account suspension, loss
of access to Font Awesome Pro assets, and/or legal action. If there's something you want to do with Font Awesome that you're not sure is cool, contact
us. We'd rather talk than triage trouble.
With a Font Awesome Pro or Pro Max license, we expect and encourage you to do the following:
Use Font Awesome Pro's icons and framework in your projects
Download and use Font Awesome Pro's assets in your desktop design work
Use Font Awesome Pro assets in your print and presentational work
Store, manage, and share Font Awesome Pro's source code and assets directly with individuals covered specifically by your license's details (e.g.
you can't provide the files in your open source public repo)
Share work, techniques, and advice you're proud of with the Font Awesome community
When you purchase a Font Awesome plan, you'll be granted a Font Awesome license. Seats are associated with that license and are used to designate
individuals who can
directly create content
using Font Awesome Pro icons. These individuals can be in your organization (as well as clients).
Those designated individuals are covered when using the icons while creating websites, presentations on the desktop, mobile apps, etc.
However, there's no limit on the number of people who are
seeing
the content you or folks assigned to your seats have created. Want to print a million fliers? No problem. A bajillion people visit your site each
month? No sweat.
Seats are used to designate individuals who are in your organization or are clients that can
directly create content
using Font Awesome Pro icons. There is, however, no limit on the number of people who can see that created content - inside and outside of your
organization or project.
You'll want to count a seat for these folks:
Designers placing icons in their digital and graphic designs
Developers directly referencing icons in their source code
Writers, bloggers, and content creators who use icons directly in their pieces
Don't count seats for these people:
Visitors and users of your site, service or app
Visitors and users of your internal portal, service, or app
People and automated tools that are just compiling or releasing code
Other employees or contractors who are not using Font Awesome directly
We don't provide individual Font Awesome accounts for seat users at this time. But the people you provide a seat to can access and use Font Awesome
just as you can.
We recommend sharing Font Awesome with your seat users by either:
Downloading Font Awesome Pro assets and sharing them directly.
Sharing the login information for the Font Awesome account that owns the license and seats.
We won't make separate Font Awesome accounts for each seat user nor will we be collecting their personal data. But we do provide an
option to
track seat allocations
for your records.
Tracking Seat Allocations
If you have a Font Awesome License, you can provide a seat to a
creator
- someone creating content with Font Awesome Pro icons. This can be someone within your organization or a client you're working with. To keep track of
who you're providing a seat to use Font Awesome Pro under your license, head over to
the Track Seat Allocations form
in your Font Awesome account.
Editing or Removing Someone from Your Seats
Has someone left the project or your organization? Need to change roles or hit your max seats? You can edit or remove a creator from a seat on your
Font Awesome license using the same
seat assignment form
in your account.
Need more seats than your current plan provides? No problem! For our Pro Plan, we include 5 seats and you can add extra ones for $20 per seat per
year, and for the Pro Max plan we include 50 seats and you can add more for $10 per seat per year.
If you have questions about seats, get in touch with us and let us know how we can help.
If you'd like to see specific icons added, there are a few options:
You can
sponsor/commission the icon
to be created. A standard icon is $300 and a brand icon (adding your logo) is $3,000.
You can request the icon or the category for the Font Awesome Community to vote on. If it gets enough votes on our
Icon Requests Leaderboard, we'll put it in our queue.
You can use the
icon upload feature
to use a custom svg icon in a Font Awesome Pro kit.
We allow individuals and organizations to
commission icons in Font Awesome. Once designed, commissioned icons are added to
the current working version of Font Awesome.
Guidelines
Icons are designed in a single color (with some opacity applied to the duotone style of the icon).
If you are commissioning a logo, it must be added to our Brands collection.
If you are commissioning a logo, you must have the legal right to share its use in Font Awesome.
If you are commissioning a logo, the logo should be simple enough to render as a legible symbol as small as 16px. Lots of letters or overly complex
symbols won't work great for inclusion in Font Awesome.
If desired, you'll be listed as a sponsor of your icon(s) on fontawesome.com.
Please request concrete objects or concepts. It's harder to make an icon to represent happiness, it's easier to make a smiley face.
Commissioned icons will be added to the Font Awesome Pro collection of icons.
Commissioned icons may be added to certain new or existing icon categories at Font Awesome's discretion.
Certain commissioned icons may be added to the Font Awesome Free collection of icons at Font Awesome's discretion.
What happens when an icon is commissioned?
Once a sponsor pays to commission an icon, our team will be in touch to get the process started. We'll ask some pointed questions about the icons to
be sponsored and take the original request as inspiration while we design.
We'll keep in touch with sponsors and provide steps to check out the direction before we ship that freshly commissioned icon to the world.
Once the icon has been been added to Font Awesome, we'll note the individual or organization as the official sponsor in that icon's details on
fontawesome.com.
Absolutely. If you
commission a pack of 6 icons or a case of 24 icons, you can request a theme for
some or all of the set. We'll be in touch after you purchase the commission and you can give us all the details. If you have questions or want more
info, get in touch.
Yep! You can add your project or organization's logo to Font Awesome by commissioning a brand icon. We'll add it to our set of brand icons. It'll be
available in Font Awesome Free and Pro.
Heads up:
logos and identities must be commissioned as part of our brand icons. Normal icon commissions are more focused on general subject matter, concepts,
and objects.
We encourage requests and recommendations for new icons through the Font Awesome community on GitHub.
Requesting an Icon
Icon requests are managed through GitHub issues in the Font Awesome project. Want to request a new icon? Please
search
to see if your icon request already exists. If a request is found, please add a 👍 reaction to that one. If there isn't an existing request,
feel free to make one!

How an Icon Request Becomes an Official Icon
Once a request is posted, our community on GitHub is welcome to post reactions (👍, 👀, 🎉, etc.). Folks can also share thoughts
and encouragement via comments.
The Font Awesome team tracks the requests that have the most community activity via our
Icon Requests Leaderboard
and often considers those requests when planning additions to our icon collection.
Not so long ago, Font Awesome was a labor of love that was done during the free time of mostly one person, our co-founder Dave. While Dave was able to
bring Font Awesome to include hundreds of icons, he also had commitments like a full-time job and family that meant he couldn't tackle everything.
Since the team has grown and we've released Font Awesome Version 5, we've picked up the pace. Not only have we added two unique styles of icons, but
since 2018 alone, we added over 2,500 new icons.
If a request seems old, dusty, and not addressed, it's because it hasn't fit into our roadmap of categories and subjects to include nor has it
gathered enough community enthusiasm and votes to warrant it to be added yet. You can help with that by getting more reactions and 👍!
On top of that, we're still designing features and services that continue to make Font Awesome easier to use in even more places. If we're not making
icons, we're thinking about how to help folks use them.
If you think we're neglecting a certain request or ask, let us know (nicely, please) in the threads of that issue on GitHub.
As we mentioned, we choose to work on and add new icons based on several factors. But the biggest reason why we're not just burning down the request
list is that we want Font Awesome to always feel consistent, cohesive, and complete. We feel the best way to do that is through planning out
categories, and releases of icons - so that each one is deep and thought-out enough to stand alone as set that someone can use in their work. If we
just tackled requests as they came, it'd be more difficult to do the same. We do consider existing requests and try to slot them in when they make
sense with the categories and releases we're working on.
We haven't developed a sure-fire bullet-proof algorithm yet. But we do have several factors that go into figuring out what to add to Font Awesome. We
definitely keep a sharp eye on the
Icon Requests Leaderboard
for the top icon and category requests. We also take a look at what folks are looking for on this site that we don't have.
There are other factors that come into play such as if we have folks who want to commission an icon or category; timely subject matter (e.g. The
Olympics, holidays, seasonal topics); common use cases people need icons for (e.g. text editor menus or highlighting stops/landmarks on maps). Again
it's not a science, but we do try to keep the community informed on
what we're working on.
Our current set of swag is centered around our newest release of Font Awesome, Version 6!

Great! We'd love to make Font Awesome even more awesome for everyone using it.
If you've got opinions about how to make our icons, services, or features better - let us know. Got a blue sky idea that would be the peanut butter to
Font Awesome's jelly? Get in touch and share that too - we're all fa-ears.
Let us know directly first!
Publicly announcing a security issue could have some pretty damaging effects so please consider sharing it with us in private first. We'd rather get
something fixed before it caused wide-spread damage.
If you've found what you believe to be a security issue,
send us an email directly
so we can take a look and address things. And thanks in advance for keeping Font Awesome, err, awesome.
The DPF is the European Union - United States Data Privacy Framework. The purpose of this regulation is to facilitate the transfer of personal data
from the EU to the US.
If you are a US citizen, this has effectively no impact on your experience with Font Awesome, save for the fact that we have made some minor
modifications to process flows. For example, you must explicitly agree to our privacy policy and terms of service before creating an account.
If you are an EU, UK, or Swiss citizen, to comply with GDPR we previously required you to self-host our icons. As the DPF constitutes an adequacy
decision to transfer data to Font Awesome and our agents, you can safely allow us to serve icons to your users via our edge network, etc.
Under GDPR, we are not allowed to transfer personal data out of the EU without explicit consent and a reason for the transfer with the exception that
authorization is not required where there is an adequacy decision. Font Awesome uses the adequacy decision under the EU-U.S.-DPF for these transfers.
Any privacy issues or concerns should be sent to dpo@awesome.me or
privacy@fontawesome.com, or by clicking Help on any page at
https://fontawesome.com". We are required by law to address these concerns in a timely manner (at maximum, 45
days). We send an automated response to all incoming email to privacy@fontawesome.com as there are common
issues that are easily addressed. If your issue requires an additional response, we review all incoming emails and will typically respond within 1-3
business days.
You can download a copy of your personal data by visiting the Settings section of your Font
Awesome Account:
Login to Font Awesome
Go to your Account page
Select the Settings tab
Scroll down to the Personal Data section and select the "Download Personal Data" button
Because we make no initial attempt to correlate your account with connection data we use for troubleshooting, that data is not available in the
download option above.
Most data can be amended from within your Font Awesome account and settings pages.
Login to your Font Awesome Account

Find the option the data that needs to be changed
Change it
In some instances there may be data you cannot amend directly in your account. In those cases, simply contact support via the support link or send an
email to hello@fontawesome.com. We should be able to assist you with any amendments, providing the
amendment doesn't violate security (e.g., we can't amend the value of a token to correspond with another user's token or set your bandwidth usage to a
lower value.)
THIS WILL IMMEDIATELY AND IRREVOCABLY DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT. WE CANNOT RECOVER YOUR ACCOUNT FROM THIS ACTION.
For PAID accounts:
Because our deletion process is immediate and irrevocable, and paid accounts nominally have value for the remainder of their term, we require account
termination of paid accounts via email to hello@fontawesome.com. We do not have an account retention
department nor do we attempt to convince you to keep your account. We simply verify you understand that deleting an account is an immediate and
irrevocable action before proceeding.
In general, no. There are no 3rd parties with whom we expressly or directly share the data we collect about our users.
As a small company, we don't build and maintain data centers. Instead, we use cloud-based services. This means all the data we collect ultimately
resides on a server that is physically owned by someone else. We leverage agreements with these organizations that guarantees they do not access the
data we store for any reason. These agreements are the critical mechanism by which we can offer our services while remaining compliant with the
EU-U.S.-DPF and GDPR.
Despite the above, we are generally considered liable for all forward transfers of data.
As a company subject to US laws, we may be required to disclose personal information in response to lawful requests by public authorities, including
to meet national security or law enforcement requirements.
We have not responded in the legally required time period (1 calendar month)
We have responded but have not completed your request in the legally required time period (between 1 and 3 months depending on number and complexity
of requests)
We have responded but you believe we have not fulfilled our requirements, you have told us the same, and we have stated we will not fulfill the
request or the 1 to 3 month period has elapsed
In such cases you may be able to invoke binding arbitration.
An independent dispute resolution body is available to address complaints and provide recourse free of charge to you concerning the issues set forth
herein. Specifically, we have elected the JAMS Data Privacy Framework for disputes relating to EU-U.S. DPF. If you need to open a dispute resolution
matter relating to EU-U.S. DPF, information is available here:
DPF Dispute Resolution.
By utilizing our services, you agree that, except as described herein and subject to the limitations of the laws of relevant jurisdictions, all
matters relating to EU-U.S. DPF shall be subject to binding arbitration. You may initiate binding arbitration in the event that any dispute resolution
procedures described by paragraph 5(ix) herein are unsuccessful. Information regarding initiating binding arbitration is available here:
DPF Dispute Resolution.
The US system of law is complex but our services may be subject to the investigatory and enforcement powers of the FTC, the DOT, or any other relevant
U.S. authorized statutory body.
Font Awesome begins its security process with training all employees on the necessity and specifics of security. Because we are a small company, this
training is conducted by the Head of Security, who is able to communicate one-on-one with all employees to validate their understanding of pivotal
underlying principles.
Font Awesome's security posture and activities are determined via threat modeling. The Head of Security, along with Engineering Management, and
individual contributors periodically review and update the threat model as necessary and prioritize actions based on the model.
At the point that the data is gathered, Font Awesome guarantees that all data is appropriately encrypted using industry standard best practices. This
guarantees that data cannot practically be collected while in transit.
At the point where the data is stored, we encrypt the volume to prevent it from being read in the event the data is somehow lost or compromised.
Additionally, access to the volume is controlled via a multi-factor authentication scheme which is auditable so that we can determine who has accessed
the data and when.
We account for each service or 3rd party system that is associated with user data, add it to the threat model, and secure the configuration based on
best practices in the industry or as suggested by the provider. Access to these systems is controlled via accounts which are centrally managed and
auditable.
We use policies that clearly lay out expectations around the use and access of personal data and lay out consequences of misuse or other violations of
the policy. These policies also cover limitation of use to the specific reasons for which the data has been collected and forbids any alteration or
other violation of integrity without the consent of the user. Additionally, we personally audit these processes (yearly at most but as often as
required).
We keep and maintain a GitHub repository with our full security and attestation docs, including diagrams and policies. Head to
Security Documentation and Attestation
for more information.

We want to correctly balance the needs of security with user privacy and transparency. The above items are items we collect to provide our service.
There are other pieces of data that we generate for the purpose of providing our service. These include tokens, timestamps, user settings and
preferences. Alone, none of these pieces of data would likely constitute personal data as they can't be used to identify a natural person. However,
with perfect knowledge of the system, in certain aggregate pieces, or if all our data was compromised, this data could be directly associated with a
natural person.
Erring on the side of caution as regards providing information to users, we have implemented a system where you can download all the data we have
associated with an account here: https://fontawesome.com/account/settings. We believe some
of this data doesn't qualify as personal data but it is data you would be able to access in any case via various parts of our system. We have simply
wrapped it up into a convenient and transferable JSON format. However, any data that we COULD have but that is not populated is omitted. We do this so
that an attacker cannot create a free account and enumerate all the data aspects of our system.
If you have any questions or concerns about the data we have presented, believe there is an issue or that something is incomplete, please contact us
at privacy@fontawesome.com. We will be happy to review your concerns and provide any additional clarity
we can based on our understanding of GDPR and similar legislation. We do reserve the right to deny access to information if we believe it presents
unnecessary risk to our system or security.
